Speeding Campaign Launches This Week
Monday August 20 2012
A WEEK-LONG enforcement campaign against speeders has started today by the police and the South Yorkshire Safety Camera Partnership.
It is part of a European-wide campaign organised by TISPOL (Traffic Information System Police) to crack down on speeders.
Chief Inspector Stuart Walne said: “Speed is a factor in too many collisions. The faster a vehicle goes, the harder it hits and the more damage it causes.
“Too many people are being killed on the roads of South Yorkshire simply because they are driving too fast. We want drivers and passengers to understand that by sticking to the legal speed limits of the roads and reducing speed when required to suit the weather conditions, unnecessary deaths can be prevented.
”The campaign will run for one week as part of the TISPOL speed campaign but South Yorkshire Police operates an all year round speed enforcement policy."
