POLICE are in Royston gathering information from the community today - on the tenth anniversary of the local teenager's death.

This morning, Linsey's brother Shaun - who set up a Facebook Page in her honour - posted this: "Today is the 10th anniversary and the launch of a fresh appeal, they will be a police box at the top of Royston park (next to the chip shop) for any information that people have if you no anything please go there and tell the police, no matter how small.
"We thank you for all your support."

Officers will be handing out flyers and talking to the community, to try to gain information for the investigation into the death of Lindsey Scholes, 17, who died after suffering the effects of a deliberate fire in Milgate Street in September 2001.

On Saturday, 8 September 2001, Lindsey was staying with friends after a party at 86 Milgate Street, Royston.

At around 4.30am, a fire started at the door of the house. Lindsey was rescued by fire fighters from the first floor of the house, however she had already suffered from the fire and smoke fumes.

She was taken to Barnsley District Hospital and then transferred to the Royal Hallamshire in Sheffield for specialist treatment.  Lindsey later died on Monday, 10 September 2001.

Anyone with information should contact the investigation team on 01709 443543 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
