Surveyors Set Up Music Festival
Friday August 3 2012
TWO surveyors have turned their hands to the music business by organising a festival.
Jim Garside and Alex Dobbin have set up the Shindig Festival at Silverwood, near Silkstone.
And they've used their surveying skills to create a 3-D virtual tour of an entire 25 acre site so that visitors can get the lay of the land.
Jim said: "The 3D image of the site allows people to have virtual stroll around the beautiful green fields before they come on the day and see it all full of hustle and bustle.”
More than 10,000 people are expected to attend the three-day event to be held August 10 to 12. Over 15 bands will perform - headline acts are the Rifles, Athlete and Simon and Oscar from Ocean Colour Scene.
Jim and colleague Alex Dobbin organised a couple of smaller Shindig Festivals eight years ago at the Penistone Showground but since then they have been busy building up the surveying business.
Alex said: “We plan to make it an annual event and have reserved the site the same weekend for the next five years."
