Striking Bus Drivers Agree Pay Deal

THE UNION which represents the striking Stagecoach bus drivers have agreed a pay deal with the company in a move that will cancel all further strike action.

The revised pay deal was put to Union members in a ballot on Friday – and they voted to accept Stagecoach’s latest pay offer.

The drivers began a series of strikes in November 2011 and vowed to continue until they got ‘a fair deal.’

Stagecoach managing director Paul Lynch said: “We are pleased that the union has accepted our latest offer and we now look forward to putting this matter behind us. Most importantly, it means that our passengers will no longer have their bus services disrupted by unnecessary strike action.

“However, we are disappointed that our passengers have had to endure such a long-running dispute even though our pay offers were good ones – and the deal which has ultimately been agreed is, as we always said it would be, actually worth a little less than we offered before strike action began.”

    Dont that just show how petty stagecoach managment are, got to have a childish dig at the workers in the last statement, grow up and start treating your workers who bring your big bonuses home with a bit of respect instead of treating them like shite.

    Forgive me if i am wrong but did the union not refuse £9+ per hour? If true shame on them- grow up & open your eyes & brains into the real world! What did they expect to get-£10+ an hour or were they aiming even higher! Thousands of people are doing more skilled jobs for a lot less!

    It wasn’t the 9.05 that was rejected it was the terms and conditions that came with it.

    No, the union did not refuse £9+ph. They refused any strings attached and there was a problem with the backdating of the pay.
    What do you call skill? A lot of drivers are skilled at other trades and professions but, circumstances have led them to drive buses for a wage. They are willing and able to work very unsociable hours and put up with all sorts of crap from the likes of yourself because they are real men and women, not poncy wusses.
    If you think this job is a piece of cake then come and try it, and find out if you a man or a wuss. (Or wuss-ette).

    please be good to this person who calls himself “The_grump”. I’ve seen his comments throughout the bus strike and so have You, so, I don’t need to say more. Why anyone would call themselves 
    “The_grump” and then try to live up to that name beats me. Only You know what his problem is and how to make him happy again so, can you possibly do that, please, so he doesn’t spread his grumpiness around to others.

    the grump got it right about that lynce fellow though dint he, that bloke needs to be dicsalpined even resign for the way he has conducted himself there, any1 from a profesion that is in the tv/media profesion would be forced to resign.
    Not a nice person going on that comment, he has tried to get the public on the company’s side by digging at hard working staff to get the edge in this strike action. But going by this sort of nasty vindictive comment he will get a promotion as this seems to be the type of people this company wants at the helm.

    The drivers wanted their backpay at 5 and a half %. They didn’t reject the pay rise, just the backpay as this was offered at 2% I’m just glad it’s all over. People have lost “friends” over this and it’s all got a bit petty
