Man’s Charity Run In Memory Of Uncle

A BARNSLEY man is taking part in the Great North Run to raise money in memory of his wife’s uncle who had a rare illness.

Martin Tyler died last year from a very rare form of Encephalitis – an inflammation of the brain that comes on suddenly and produces serious neurological disease.

Barnsley lad Adrian Wightman, a civil engineer, said: “Martin will be sadly missed and leaves a large hole in many people’s lives.

“I used to do swimming when I was younger but I’d not really done any exercise in a while so I thought it would be a brilliant challenge.

“I have trouble running up the stairs at the minute so I am in training. I’m just looking for some support really to help raise awareness of the charity and raise some money for them.”

Adrian will be running the Great North Run later this year.
