Helicopter Search After Laser Incident

THE police helicopter was out in Barnsley last night after someone pointed a green laser towards it.

SY99 – the code name for the helicopter – was doing routine patrols in Barnsley when someone shone the laser from Cemetery Road at about 11.15pm (Thursday Feb 2.) Officers were directed to the house in question. Lasers – when pointed towards helicopters – act like a camera flash when they hit the cockpit glass and create a blinding floodlight in front of the pilot.

The helicopter then went to the M1 (Sheffield) to assist ground officers who had tracked a car involved in a kidnap case.

    I heard the helicopter from Carlton but couldn’t see it,them laser pens should be banned,they bare too dangerous,we always see young kids with them when we go on holiday,pointing them onto people’s faces.
