Where Do You Think The Council Could Save Money?

BARNSLEY Council has asked residents to voice their opinions on how money could be saved from the budget next year.

The council is running an online survey to ask what locals think could make the council save money – by considering things like grass cutting and gardening, roads and footpath repairs, adult social care, services for children and young people and the MiCard.

What do you think? How could the council save the tens of millions of pounds it needs to? Have your say by writing in the comment box below.

If councillers payed for their own lunch – or ideally took a packed lunch to work that’s a saving…
If councillers pay their own rent and utility bills – thats another saving…
If they stop ploughing money into nonsensical causes – theres another saving!
If councillers practice what they preach and “car share” or take “public transport” to work – there we are – more money saved!
If councillers were forced to live on £67-50 a week – to identify with the folk that voted them in – they may have a greater understanding of the folk they’re representing?

Why is it that the folk making the decisions – have no comprehension of how we are forced to live – everything capped – except the cost of fuel ie gas/electric and petrol – and not forgetting the expenses – the government think that folk can live on £67-50 quite easily, gas is £20 per week, electric is £15 – there is vat on everything – I dont doubt that we will be taxed for expelling methane before the year is out … get a grip!! ffs!
